Regarding the part where it says: "At neck opening and center front overlap the facing on top of the hood. Stitch along front edges and neck edge through all thicknesses. Clip seam allowances where necessary and trim corners, then turn facings right side out and press."
I'm confused with how this looks like. Can someone provide a more detailed description or a picture to explain this step?

You are right, this could be a bit confusing - thanks for pointing this out. We are going to update the instruction PDF and change that paragraph. New version:
Slip cord stoppers over ends of drawstring and tie knots in ends. Pin hood to front and back neck opening with right sides together, matching center back and shoulder seams with notches, baste. Pin facings right sides together to center front and front neck opening, with the hood sandwiched in.
Stitch along front edges and neck edge through all thicknesses. Clip seam allowances of neck opening where necessary and trim corners at center front, then turn facings right side out and press.

Sorry - my mistake... :-( It should read: "Pin facings right sides together to center front and neck opening, with the hood sandwiched in."
